In vitro fertilization (IVF) is a complex series of procedures used to treat fertility & genetic problems and assist with the conception of a child.
During IVF, mature eggs are collected (retrieved) from your ovaries and fertilized by sperm in a lab. Then the fertilized egg (embryo) or eggs are implanted in the uterus.
IVF may invlove eggs, sperm or embryos from a known or anonymous donor.

Patient with infertility due to various causes such as,

  • Bilateral tubal damage
  • Severe endometriosis
  • Ovarian failure (donor egg needed)
  • Immunological infertility
  • Failed IUI
  • Unexplained infertility
  • Severe male factor (donor sperm needed)

What are the advanced procedures in case of severe male factors in fertility.

The advanced procedures in such cases are Micromanipulation. The procedure of Micromanipulation includes the following:

  • ICSI
  • TESA
  • MESA
  • PESA
  • TESE

ICSI - Intra cytoplasmic sperm insemination is a procedure where a single sperm is injected directly into the ovum (egg) which was taken out from ovary after ovum pickup.
PICSI - Physiological intra cytoplasmic sperm injection. Selection of morphologically normal sperms for IVF. Sperm are then added to hyaluronon drops in PICSI dish motile and competent sperms bind to hyaluronon. These are selected and chosen for ICSI.
TESA - Testicular sperm aspiration. It is the aspiration of fluid from the testicles to get sperms which are used in IVF.
MESA - Microsurgical epidydimal sperm aspiration
PESA - Percutaneous epidydimal sperm aspiration
TESA - Testicular sperm extraction, which is done through a uroscope and sperm are retrieved.
MICRODISSECTION TEST - Similar to TESE but done with a micro dissecting microscope to extract sperms from tissues.
PGD - Pre implantation genetic diagnosis. Biopsy of embryos to detected healthy embryos and to detect any genetic disorder.

Note : Of all the facilities mentioned above, Donor Sperm is also available in DMCH.
