Orthopedics Surgery
The Department of Orthopaedics is one of the most renowned and advanced centres in the field of Orthopaedics. The department has always been in the forefront in innovation and adopting latest cutting edge technology in orthopaedics. Performing more than 3500 major surgeries annually, it is known for exemplary patient care and excellent academic training programme with intake of five MS post graduate students every year, with 21 residents and post doctoral fellows manning the wards, it is ensured that patients get round the clock care and comfort . Also, the department regularly conducts CMEs and training programs to train young surgeons of the region.
Facilities Available
Joint Replacement/ Arthoplasty
Total Knee Replacement, Total Hip Replacement, Total shoulder Replacement, Total Shoulder Replacement, Total Elbow Replacement, Specialized centre for Revision arthoplasty. The department pioneered the art and science of joint replacement in our region more than 25 years ago. Joint replacement is done following the latest protocols and procedures. This ensures pain free and early return to function. The dedicated physiotherapy department takes care of post- operative patients.
Arthroscopy & Sports Medicine Unit:
A dedicated team looks after sports injuries and performs key-hole arthroscopic surgeries – ACL reconstruction, PCL reconstruction, multi ligament reconstruction, meniscal repairs, menisectomies, cartilage surgery etc. For Shoulder joint – rotator cuff repairs, instability surgeries e.g. Bankart’s repair are done using arthroscopic techniques.
Trauma and General Orthopaedics
Emergency and definitive care is available round the clock for all types of bony and musculo-skeletal trauma cases. The department has state of the art operating rooms with all modern amenities. Our centre is specially known for the care of severely injured polytrauma cases.
Complex pelvis and acetabular surgeries are performed on a regular basis.
Bone tumours: Limb salvage surgery
Spine and Back Surgery:
All kinds of spine surgeries, including disc prolapsed and spinal fixation etc.
Bone Transport/ llizarov Surgery:
ur department pioneered the use of ring fixators in north India 30 Years ago with Ogneseyan system. This specialised modality is used for treatment of infected non-unions, limb length discrepancy &deformity correction of limbs. It is also being used to treat high velocity complex fractures of limbs.
Paediatrics Orthopaedics:
It includes surgeries including polio, cerebral palsy, club foot, CDH (by birth hip problems), CTEV (twisting foot) , Perthes disease, slipped capital femoral epiphysis, congenital anomalies and operative treatment of fractures are regularly managed in the department.
Hand Surgery:
Department is well equipped for Management of hand trauma including reconstruction of crush injury hand and various fractures in the hand and wrist.
Foot and Ankle Surgery
The department is fully geared up for all kind of foot deformities, like hallux valgus, bunion, cavus and diabetic foot are managed surgically.
